Well, this is the start of an adventure for us.  Leaving our young children home alone while we spend 2 months blundering around western Europe - hopefully having the time of our lives. 

While we intend to see some of the more touristy destinations, we aim to get off the beaten track and sample some of the quieter bits as well. Our journey will start in Frankfurt with about 2 weeks of train travel between cities and then we step into a hire-car for around 6 weeks.

We fly out in less than a week now, so we are busily sorting out what to take and what to leave.  

We are armed with our cameras and will upload photos and blogs during lulls.

Hey thanks. Having a great time. My (lack of) german language skills is getting sorely tested but we are getting by. I start every conversation with 'Enschuldige mein deutch bitte ...' and most people do.

Lots more to do and see so stand by....
