Going home is never fun, or easy, especially when it all starts off with a mechanical delay in Amsterdam. Once we finally left we arrived at London Heathrow with exactly fifteen minutes to get from one end of a terminal, through customs, onto a bus, across the airport to another terminal, to the desk, and then finishing with a mad dash to the complete other end of the terminal to our gate. Of course a race like this doesn't come without costs. Our team suffered a bit of an injury, or more specifically Kara tripped and fell on the escalator, scratching up her knee. But nonetheless, the race was on and she got back up and continued to run, just being a bit red in the face.
We ended up just making our flight and arrived into Chicago with plenty of time to travel across the airport to the gate for our last flight of Dubuque. Unfortunatly along the way we saw a sign saying, "Dubuque: cancelled". So we turned around, got a flight for the next morning, checked into a hotel, made arrangements for work, had a beer and called it a night.
The next morning we finally made it home and Mia our cat greeted us with the best homecoming gift any cat owner could ask for...
