Since we had the day to kill here in San Jose, we decided to venture out and see the city. First, we had to have our 'out of the woods pizza', something we always seem to crave when were backpacking or camping. After that, we headed into the city center and took in the sites and sounds of san jose. We saw the beautiful teatro nacional, and went shopping on the calle central. Calle central is a pedestrian shopping zone, and has the feel of new york or the magnificent mile in chicago. Lots of people and lots of shops. Kara found a brazil football (aka soccer) jersey and I got, of course, my costa rica pins. We also got some t-shirts, ice cream, and an ox cart replica, which is a standard costa rican craft. After several hours of walking through the jungle streets, we had enough and went back to the hotel to watch latin mtv, begin packing and go to bed early (our minds are still programmed in jungle time, bed by 9, up by 5).
At least san jose is cooler, in the 60's. A gradual acclimation to the coldness that awaits us back home.
