Where I stayed
Yes, I hate to pack. We packed on Friday night, as Saturday I had to leave early for the Scout Show, that had been rescheduled due to the first February blizzard. Since the Scout Show wasn’t a part of my vacation, all I will say about it was that I opened the Scout Store at 9 am and didn’t sit down until 1:00, when I had some help and was able to eat a salad. I left there at 2:00, so by the time I got home and changed and we had loaded up the car to leave, it was after 3:00. We dropped the dog off at the Pet motel and left for Baltimore.
We had decided to stay the night in Baltimore for a couple of reasons—1) It extended our vacation by one night and 2) we could do a stay and cruise package that was only $30 more than the cost of parking at the pier. We chose the Admiral Fell Inn. This Historic Hotel of America actually consists of seven different
buildings dating back to the 1770’s. Over the years the Inn has served
as a ship chandlery, a theater, a boarding house for sailors and later,
a Seaman’s YMCA. We arrived there about 6:15. We went to our room, the "Poe" room. A plaque on the wall stated that Poe was a frequent guest at a saloon around the corner, “The Horse You Came in On.” It was after one visit that he was on his way home and was found in a gutter. He died four days later. The name of the room was fitting, as the door creaked when opened. We took a brief walk before dinner and then walked over to “The Black Olive” where we had dinner.
