Before I talk about our day at sea, I want to tell you about our evening in one of the alternative restaurants, Prego. We invited a couple from our table (from New Zealand) to join us. We had a wonderful time. I had the absolute BEST mushroom soup I have ever had. I also had a fish special. Keith had the lasagna. I had a bite and it was delicious.
There are a lot of activities planned on sea days. We attended another lecture by Marlin Fitzwater. He showed us pictures taken by the White House photographers during his tenure as Press Secretary. He told some funny stories as well. The Crystal Society Welcome Reception was right before lunch. This is for first time cruisers with Crystal. We were given champagne or cocktail of our choice. The Grand Gala Buffet was scheduled for lunch and I took some pictures. If you went away hungry from this it was your own fault. They served lobster tails, shrimp, salmon in different forms, hot dishes, breads, salads, and dessert. Since it was another formal evening and the French Dinner, I had a nice salad with some shrimp, some fruit and bread. While Keith attended a Spanish class and photography class, I went to a cooking demonstration in the afternoon and then the galley tour. In one day, the Crystal Serenity serves 170 quarts of ice cream, 2500 bread rolls, 260 muffins, 200 lbs of salad, 110 lbs of shrimp, 500 lbs of beef, 850 lbs of poultry, 350 lbs of fish, 100 gallons of coffee, 2300 eggs, 200 lbs of butter and 500 lbs of flour.(among other things)
