We stayed on a refurbished Oil Rig close to one of the best dive sites in the world - Palau Sipadan. The Oil Rig approach was cheaper than some other options, but in retrospect, probably would have stayed at the resort we could see from the deck of the rig..... here!

Oil Rig aside, the diving off Sipadan Island was like nothing we had ever seen before - or will probably experience again (sigh).

To stop counting the number of turtles you see each dive, and to stop noticing the white-tip sharks because there is too much else that is more interesting to look at, is unheard of anywhere else in the world.

On one dive we couldn't decide whether to follow the mating tutles, the massive cuttlefish that was changing colour faster than a Sony PS3 leaves the shelves, or the swirling wall of thousands of chevron barracuda that were slowly moving in the opposite direction.

To quote Jacques Cousteau (a famous painter from the South of France)
"I have seen other places like Sipadan, 45 years ago, but now no more. Now we have found an untouched piece of art".

We've had a DVD made of the dives, and we'll find the time to bore you all through it some how!

Next stop is The Kinabantangan River, in East Sabah, where we hope to see Orang Utans in the wild!
