The flight was great.

I got in before the crew and stopped by a fish taco stand across from the hotel. I may be more of a midwestern tacos without fish kind of guy….
The Crew made it in. We had our first and only night of the official Michigan Nista Route 66 trip, with all members present. The official meeting took place at the Comfort Inn, Santa Monica.

We (my stomach and I) quickly made short work of any leftover food Scott and Dad had.  Then, it was off to the Santa Monica Pier.

Santa Monica Pier is the OFFICIAL starting or ending point of the trip (it depends which direction you are heading).

The irony of the conclusion to the first half of the open road, Route 66, Corvette, bad to the bone trip is that a corvette only has room for two people…. so we had to take the bus.

As we headed for the Official Marker, Scott informed me to be prepared for a lot of OFFICIAL Route 66 stops and conversations. Looking back, I think a lot was a very low estimate….

What a wonderful, iconic way to celebrate life and family! Being able to read about it breaks up the mundane passage of time waiting for my school year to start again.
