I was busy attending many training sessions of SPEW on 29th & 30th June. My bicycle ride, however, continued everyday after dinner.
On 29th June, I attended a microfinance conference "Are we on right track?" organized by MicroNED at Rabo Bank, Utrecht. Microfinance Guru Professor Malcolm Harper gave some insights on community owned MFIs. Later, during drinks break, he advised me on our model of microfinance. Mandy Tromp was with me throughout the seminar to help me to connect with Dutch professionals/organizations. Mandy is currently working with Rabo Bank in Netherlands is visiting Nirantara to help us in Change Management during September-October this year.
Before that, during SPEW program held at SOD at Woerden, we got gyan (education) on Access to Markets & Exports. We learnt about CBI & EVD which are helping exporters indeveloping countries. Sessions, especially on communication and branding were quite informative. However, I had to go to MicroNED conference. By the time I returned from the conference, SPEW buddies were back from their grand souvenir shopping. Indian dinner (Rice & vegetables cooked by Jabeen) was waiting for all, especially Indian paricipants. It was tasty as well as relieving! We had a wonderful one-on-one experience sharing with buddies after dinner. Wow! Charming people, indeed!
On 30th June, we all went to Twynstra Gudde at Amersfoort. What a wonderful organization it is! Twynstra Gudde (TG) is one of the largest consulting companies in the Netherlands. Simon Noorman & Marijn Mooij provided wonderful insights on organizational growth & inter-organizational management. Very useful inputs…
Sam picked me from Amersfoort and took me to a large international bilateral investment organization at Den Haag (The Hague) as part of our Sector Visit Program. The meeting was quite productive. It was a long drive crossing traffic jam of Holland while gaining gyan on personal life to politics. We returned to Amersfoort as there was an event on ShareBusiness -Informal meetings between entrepreneurs and experts to inspire one another. I shared Nirantara’s Business Case (Communication & Branding Strategy done by Maurice) with few high profile Dutch professionals. After the meeting, I met inspiring promoters of ShareBusiness – Bart Kraai, Eric van Kuijzen and Camiel van Damme It was a wonderful event as I connected with socially driven professionals
Next week’s travel itinerary is taking shape. Maurice is taking me to his residence (near Rotterdam) on 2nd July night (after Holland vs Brazil match & SPEW Closing Party). Entire Holland is excited about the match. Everybody is speaking about football, even in strictly formal meetings. On 3rd July, we are going to Rotterdam to see kick off of Tour de France. Sam is joining us for boat sailing in North Sea.
Last 2 days of days of SPEW are again filled with lot of meetings, training sessions and networking.
