After two weeks of enjoying not so great weather and many Dutch specialities I came back to Shanghai and by the time my jetlag was over, summer had started! The last few days it's been around 25 degrees Celsius, I wish it would stay like this all summer.
Vacation do seems to be bring harm to my bicycles as my new one was stolen last night after going out for diner. It had two big locks but apparantly that wasn't enough.

It s been great having a few days off, enjoying the weather and I finally went on the Nanpu Bridge. It's my favourite bridge in Shanghai and I had been wanting to go for a while. Unfortunately only on side was open and it was the "bad" side without a view of the circle roads that go several layers up to the bridge. After waiting for the perfect moment to cross, we decided it was too dangerous to cross the 7 lanes with speeding cars. But on the way back down we stopped the lift on the 4th and got out on a platform for workers and were able to walk to the other side! It gave a great view of the circle roads and of the underside of the bridge. After being on top of the bridge we went on the ferry twice to get a few from the water, it was absolutley beautiful and costs only 5 eurocent, definately a reccomendation!

Maybe next week I'll do Lupu Bridge. Also the Hangzhou Bay Bridge opened this week, it's the longest sea bridge in the world, connecting Shanghai to Ningbo. In a few weeks I have to be in Ningbo and will get a look at it!

Because of the holidays Shanghai was awfully crowded and the metro was hell, especially on May 1. Nanjing Road, People's Square and the Bund were all stuffed with people. Luckily Xujiahui was ok as we had a goodbye dinner there for one of our friends who is now on her way back to the Netherlands.
