Ashleigh, myself, Rachel and Keiji, and Will and Kristi all went to go watch the fireworks on the beach near the amusement park. Keiji was able to borrow a huge van (I was surprised to see that they had MPV-style vehicles here in Japan) to drive all of us to the beach.
Rachel wanted to stop in at an art show she'd heard about and take a look at. I will say that it was.... interesting. I don't have any pictures of the art since they didn't want us to take pictures, but I'll tell you that most weren't that good. There was a sloppiness about how they were put together that you would never believe that it was intentional.
I'm a big fan of modern art, but if someone is going to make something with a specific shape or wants to make an impression, they should make a point to emphasize it in their work
After the art show we all left with a "huh" kinda feeling, and headed towards the beach. We then got to the beach and grabbed some odd assortment of food. Being festival food, most of it is kind of greasy and expensive, so we didn't go crazy on it.
I also found it humorous that the people at the stands were staring at the large group of white people. I didn't get hassled when I walked thru alone, but as soon as they all showed up behind me, I could hear "Hello!" and "How are you?", which is probably the extent of their English abilities.
We sat down on some benches and were promptly chased away from them. Apparently, many families rent the benches to watch the fireworks, so we were shooed away since we didn't pay anything for that spot. I was wondering why they were eyeing us for so long, they were probably trying to figure out how to tell us to leave. Finally, an old lady decided that yelling at Will was the best solution.
We then went onto the sea wall to eat
Since the girls were freaked out, we ate fast and moved onto the sand next to a restaurant. It was there that we sat and watched the fireworks.
The fireworks were the longest and most impressive that I've seen. Better than Uwajima and bigger. They went on for 40 mins, and had some neat fireworks that I've never seen before. The Pikachu, Anpanman, and Hello Kitty ones were the most amazing, and some of the biggest ones filled up the entire sky.

01 Sunset over the beach

02 collection of sea cockroaches
. There they had huge "sea cockroaches" as the girls liked to call them. I didn't take any pictures of these ones up close, but they were huge. and ugly. and fast. and there were a lot of them.Since the girls were freaked out, we ate fast and moved onto the sand next to a restaurant.
