Hello,

We got the train to the beach today.  The weather
wasn't great.  It was warm, but overcast and windy.  We started off at
Brighton beach and ended up at Gardenvale.  The area there seemed
really nice.  The houses were really big and modern.  We probably
couldn't afford to live there, but that would be a good area to live.
We walked along the coast for a while, and then went for a coffee at
this nice cafe.  The area seemed really dog friendly.  There was a big
stretch of beach which was fenced off to take your dogs onto, and the
cafe had a dog area to tie up your dog with bowls to give them a
drink.

I still don't like the public transport here though.
There's some really dodgy characters on the trains. There are gangs of
African boys hanging around in the poorer areas. We're back in the
internet cafe to apply for jobs.  There seem to be loads of jobs here,
especially in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.  The jobs in Perth seem
to all be in the mining industry.  Perth and Brisbane have better
weather though.  Melbourne is meant to be the most liveable city in the
world, so we're giving it a chance by spending a few weeks here,
although we're pretty bored.  Outside the city, you need to have a car
if you want to go sightseeing. Tomorrow we're going to go to an estate
agents and see if we can get an apartment on short term lease, which
should be cheaper than staying in hotels.  I'm also hoping to drag Gary
to the St Kildas area (beach area where the backpackers go), because
they have a Neighbours night there where characters from Neighbours
come to the bars.  Apparently they had to ban Toby from going because
he was sleeping with all the backpackers!!
