Melbourne

We're in Melbourne now. We went into town today. Melbourne seems nice.
Sydney was a lovely city, but the people were too pretentious, whereas
Melbourne seems to have a nicer crowd of people. Its a bit more mixed
with students and backpackers. The Australians haven't really grown on
us. They have high pitched shreeky voices and act really American.
We're realising that its going to be difficult to decide whether we
want to live somewhere in such a short period of time, as Australia's
so big, and to work for a company long enough to get sponsership
! However, there is very low unemployment over here, and IT managers
are on the priority list for sponsership. I think Gary would do better
at one of the wine or beer tasting places for a job though ! Maybe
we'll open up a vineyard. Who knows?? We're off to Geelong tommorow because all the hotels in Melbourne are
booked out and double priced this week. Geelong is an hours drive/
train ride along the coast from Melbourne. Its meant to have a nice
(ish) beach, and its a city in its own right. We think that if we do
end up living here, we wouldn't want to live in the city anyway, so its
best to have a look at the commuter towns.
