Ko Lanta is an island near to Ko Phi Phi. Its larger but quieter. We got off the ferry and taxi drivers were fighting over us. We got onto a wagon which already had 4 people on it and agreed to pay 50 bht each (80p) to Long Beach (the busy bit). The taxi driver took us to several resorts which were full and we eventually found a resort with Bamboo huts next to the beach for 400bht a night (6 pounds). The resort was really nice, and we spent the evening in hammocks on the beach. However, the toilet in the hut didn't have a flush (fairly common in Thailand) and there was holes in the walls letting mosquito's in, so we decided to move to another resort. We walked to the road and stopped a tuk-tuk. The driver piled us and the rucksacks in, and the tuk-tuk fell over backwards !! That didn't stop him piling in another 2 people with rucksacks though !! He took us further down south and we found another resort, where we knew 2 girls were staying that we'd met previously. This resort is also really nice, and the bungalows are made with brick and the toilet flushes !!

We started our PADI dive course today. It was really good, although is still feels really strange to breath through the regulator under water. Today we did all the skills in shallow water, like taking off our masks and regulator, and breathing through each others emergency air supply and buoyancy control. Tomorrow were going on a proper dive off a boat, which should be good.  0 Comments
