Kathmandus, Kathmandonts
Entry 26 of 82 | show all | print this entry |
Kathmandus * Eat in as many of the restaurants as you can cos they're pretty much all awesome * Try and stay somewhere that has a generator, 8 hours of no power every day takes its toll * Do some yoga -its hurts like hell but its worth it in the long run * Get a tab in Sam's Bar - 4 weeks of "free drinks" rocks (until you have to pay the tab, though it still only comes to an average night out in Dublin for one night!!!) * Have a journey on the roof of a local bus down through the valley its terrifying but completely amazing * Prepare yourself for complete and utter Jack Johnson overload * Stay as long as you possibly can cos its brilliant
Kathmandonts * Dont believe anything you hear from the foreign office/media - its all good in Nepal * Dont drink late in Funky Buddha and forget which side of the road its on and end up completely lost in the backstreets of Kathmandu at 3am *ahem* * Dont agree to let a rickshaw driver take you to a temple 6 k's away on hilly roads and then nearly kill himself in the process *ahem* * Dont lose your cool with the guy playing the flute outside your window every waking hour of the day * Dont stay too long cos the longer you do the harder it is to leave
Cant believe its been almost a month already and I'm heading for the airport in a couple of hours. The whole month of February has been a complete blur but a brilliant blur and I'm so sad to be leaving (even though if I'd written this blog at this time yesterday I dont think it would have been quite so positive!!! but thats another story)
Its sort of like the end of a bit now really aswell, the India/Nepal loop is over (for now) and its on to Malaysia and SE Asia for a couple of months. As Stormi Sis would say its been so so so awesome and I've met some really great people in the last 4 months and definately made some good friends. So thanks Stormi & Joe, Ben, Rich & Kirsty, Pia, Alison, Anne, Shomika. And especial thanks Steve & Adam for making it all happen. ("What dyou want? A 3 month trip around India that might be a bit mad but will be 98% brilliant and then the best month ever living it up in Kathmandu despite the riots and bandh's and no fuel?!? MMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm") (dont ask, its a long story)
bye bye bye
