I left the London hostel at about 8.40am for the 9.45 bus - and decided to walk to the bus stop at Gloucester Place as it looked far to complicated to catch all the buses. It was only a couple of miles anyway, so not so bad! But I got there really easily and at about 9.05 - very early. the 9.10 bus was late (my ticket was for 9.45 so it didn't matter anyway) - but the bus turned up at 9.25 to pick up some very worried passengers, and there was room for myself and the other early 9.45ers so i got on that one. i got to Luton airport quite early - at maybe 10.20. So that was good (my plane didn't leave till 12.20 - boarding at 11.50. So there was plenty of time!
Booked in my luggage etc with no dramas - my pack considerably heavier than when i started - now 18.5 kilos, started at 12! - very strange....! I haven't really bought that much - but maybe it was the tin of haggis! (lol) I think i am going to have a lot to declare in quarantine when i get home. i think that a lot of the food from holland is safe as they are free from foot and mouth disease. so dad, you might see some stroop wafels when i get home!
I waited in the lounge for a while (with no idea of my gate number, as there was no signs with it on, or indication on my ticket - nut it showed up later when it said we could board). Grabbed a sandwich and drink lunch from the british chemist shop that is all over britain - called "boots". That was the last boots i will see for a long time!
Boarded the plane after an hour of "sudoku" ( and searching for a parker fountain pen in the duty free shops - but to no avail! Strange...) The plane trip was short (40 minutes) so that was pretty uneventful too.
It only took me 20 minutes to get through the gates at schipol and get my luggage - so i was going to arrive at hoorn train station with plenty of time! I tried to give Oma and Opa and/or Ron and Jose a ring to tell them I was ok - but turns out I don't know how to use a pay phone anymore after my years of mobile phone use! So I just tried to buy a ticket (tried the ticket machines - but they only took coins and cards, so the ticket teller lady was seeming very friendly by this time!
But it was all ok - i decided to get the one straight to hoorn as the other one i would have to get out at amsterdam Sloterdijk, and i really couldn't be bothered navigating my way around another train station! but it was all fun - i waited at the train station for 1/2 and hour - and sudoku was once again my friend. I'm so glad i bought that book in france!!!!
But Jose and Olaf were there at Hoorn station (40 minutes or so later) and it was so nice - I was so happy to see them again! We drove back to Enkhuizen (after Jose laughed at me cos i tried to sit in the driver's seat! - stupid right-hand-side-drivers...! Lol)
But Oma and Opa were there at their house and so was Ron and there were lots of hugs and smiles and laughter and it was all lovely. We had a family dinner there with Oma's danish food - and it was so lovely! I think i went to bed quite early - sitting down seems to tire you out!
