My last bus, and last London!
Entry 37 of 54 | show all | print this entry |
Ok, did something dumb.... again!
Actually it was very dumb - mum you are going to hit me over the head!
I presumed that my bus was leaving at 9.30am.... when it wasn't. It was leaving at 8am! So i missed my bus and had to buy another ticket....! I feel extremely dumb! - Especially since I've been so careful on the rest of this trip, and just one time that I decided to trust my gut feeling that the bus was at 9.30 - silly silly me.
Oh well, can't be helped!
Anyway, I got up and finished packing my bag. After realising I had missed the bus I bought another ticket on the internet - and Simon dropped me off at Liverpool station at about 9.20. The bus ticket I bought was at 10am, so there wasn't much difference.
The bus trip was pretty average - did some sleeping and some Sudoku. There wasn't really much else for me to do!
Got to London just before 3pm, to catch a bus to my hostel near Queensway. That was pretty uneventful too. Got to the hostel at probably 3.30pm - got to my room (I was upgraded to a 6 person room because they were planning on shooting some photos of us in the room for advertisements. Kinda cool - I got a photo taken of me with a toothbrush in my mouth, a crazy grin and hidden underneath a shower curtain. A bit of fun!). I went out after that - had some stuff to do on the internet. Got back, had the photos taken of me and went downstairs to cook some dinner - a bit dodgy: peas, pasta, apricots and french onion soup mix - lol, an attempt at apricot chicken... without the chicken! Didn't taste too bad though - had that great "homemade" taste that I'd been searching for!
Cleaned up after dinner and decided to go on a bit of a night walk through London. Grabbed a small chocolate bar and went for a wander down Bayswater road: I think i'm just feeling really sad to be leaving old london town! Its strange: everywhere I've gone on this trip, I've always ended up in London again! But no more...! I will be coming back again, some day! Maybe in summer - though I found winter in London busy enough!
I'm sitting in an internet cafe now, only in a t-shirt. I'm finding it quite warm today actually. Winter in Europe really isn't as cold as you would think!
Tata for now... tomorrow, when i write I will be in Holland!!!!
Lots of love, Nikki.
And by the way - for all those people planning to see London: the Astor Hyde Park Hostel really is fantastic. Of the hostels I've seen in London, I really really recommend it!

I know exactly how you Feel (reply) Feb 11, 2006 03:07 EST by angry_dave
I know how you feel Nik, Leaving London for the last time. When I left in 2004 I knew it would be the last time I saw so many of the friends that I had made over the few short weeks that I was there, and I couldn't help but feel a little upset. I felt so helpless, that all of these people were being taken away and there is nothing I could do about it!
Anyways, cheer up. After being throug... show all
