Meet the Keytons...!
Entry 35 of 54 | show all | print this entry |
Well!
We got up quite late - Catherine and Simon cooked me a fry up in honour of me not having one yet and being in the UK...! It was fantastic - absolutely everything you could imagine - including black pudding! It was actually really nice - won't be afraid to buy black pudding if i find it when i get home!
Left for Chorley quite late - maybe 11am (after talking to mum and dad on the skype).
The drive took a little while. But we were in chorley at around 12, and i met the keytons: brenda, tony and their daughter Julia. They are all soooooo lovely! It's so nice to find such lovely family that you've never met before or really knew existed come a few years ago!
They decided to show me the lake district - which I was soo happy about as i really really had wanted to see it on this trip, but couldn't get out there! What a coincidence eh?
We drove past the house of Wordsworth (owned by the national trust) - but it wasn't open! So i got my photo of it, and we continued on. Unfortunately I have a terrible memory for names and places and can't really remember where we went other than the fact that it began with W....! Lol silly me. But it was so pretty anyway! We had picked the most perfect day - the sky was all blue and the weather was great.
We parked the car (i was in the car with Brenda, tony and julia - catherine and simon followed behind in their car) and decided to walk down to the lake, looking out for somewhere to eat lunch (it was 3pm by this time). The walk down was great. it wasn't a short walk but i loved walking down past the bridges and lovely old houses. Truly fantastic!
WE got down to the lake and found a pub which was serving - so we all went in and grabbed some tucker. I had honey baked ham with this interesting potato chip stack (think Jenga!). But it was very cool!
Took some photos by the lake, and had a bit of a laugh as i got all paranoid about being in a photo with my glasses on - lest mum would give me a talking to! :)
We walked back up to the car - the same fantastic walk, and drove out of the lake district. Fell asleep in the car journey home - I was so tired!
We got home and Brenda made a fantastic dinner of goulash, prawn curry (mmm) and the best cheesecake I've ever eaten! Truly fantastic!
What a wonderful day....
... and then comes the wonderful night!
Stephen and Moira popped around a bit later and Catherine, Simon, Julia, Stephen, Moira and myself all went out to check out the nightlife of Chorley! We started off in Harry's bar - SImon and Catherine stayed for one drink and the left as Catherine was feeling poorly :(. We met up with some friends of Stephen's who followed us to the next bar (can't remember the name!) were we played some pool. And I was as bad at playing pool as i thought! But it was a lot of fun! We wandered off to check out the last bar for the night - and ended up in "15". Quite a nice pub actually. We had some fun singing to "Build me up buttercup" etc at the top of our lungs. Good times!
We stayed till the pub closed, at about 2am and grabbed a kebab before getting the taxi home. I got waaay tooo much garlic sauce on my chips! I had a great taste in my mouth in the morning! Lol...
But it was a fantastic night: so if any of the Keyton's read this, thanks again for a wonderful night in Chorley (even if you thought it was a bit quiet!). And Catherine, thanks for the fantastic day in Liverpool and for letting me stay in your lovely home. It was so nice to spend some time in a normal home and catch up with you after our long break of a few years!
Love Nikki+
