Headed into town to catch a bus to the beach.
Haggled some tuk tuk driver down from 400baht to 100baht to take us to Chalong bay he agreed to the 100baht if he could drop us to some shops to look round on the way because if he takes tourists to certain shops they stamp his card then after so many he gets free fuel.
Thought it would be quite funny we are not by any means push over tourists we are now very well travelled and aware of things but thought it would be fun to go along for the cheep ride and it was
He first dropped us at a Jewellery shop we went in had a look around it was blatantly one of those jewellery scams where they try and sell you poor standard jewellery telling you it can sell for more back in England we walked round quietly laughing to ourselves as they try so hard to sell us tat.
We bought nothing of course we then got back in the tuk tuk and the driver carried on toward the beach.
The driver then stopped at another jewellery place same again Jewellery scam, I told the driver no more we’ll walk round here so you get your stamp then take us straight to the beach. Otherwise he would have kept taking us places. we walked round the shop then back into the tuk tuk and to the beach the driver was not happy with me for putting my foot down lol, anyhow we got our 10k taxi ride to the beach for just under £2.
Chalong bay was mainly a harbour not much beach so jumped in another taxi to Karon beach we knew this was a nice nearby beach.
Got to Karon bay it was unfortunately crammed with tourists but the beach was gorgeous with big waves, crystal clear water, golden sand and hardly a cloud in the sky.
Had some lunch then spent till the sun went down played on the beach.
Then we got the bus back to Phuket town.
Quite funny the bus you just have to wait on the main road then when you see the bus with Phuket town on you wave it down, we was waiting about 20mins we was a bit thirsty but knew if we went got a drink from the nearby stall the bus would come and we’d miss it.
So Louise went to the stall to get 2 fruit smoothes then of course the bus came, I got the bus to stop and wait, Louise ran over and we were both on, but there was no space so we was standing out the back on the platform. It’s pretty normal here to be stood in the back of a pick-up, on a roof or 4 people and a dog on a moped. The journey back took about half hour and was really fun seeing all the mad drivers, as we got close to our destination the town motorbike taxis started to follow us shouting 'motorbike taxi’ then when we got to our stop there was loads of bike taxis flooding the exit to the bus trying to get some people on their bike really funny and 2 of the taxi men were arguing about who gets who.
We then walked back to our hostel/hotel.
