Well it is departure's eve and I am feeling so much emotion. Some comes from the leaving and some from the going. I never imagined the events of the past two weeks unfolding the way they did, and I feel certain that is why it occured. Not once did I try to make decisions or form expectations of who I met or how things would transpire. What did happen was to meet several people in a community that opened their hearts and homes to a traveler whose only credentials were a word from mutual friends. It turned into a new home community for me which I find myself longing to return to before I had even left. I have embraced this as another gift to carry with me and share with those friends I have yet to meet.
The last few days have been here in Springfield (Lincoln's town) and enjoyed the sights and sounds very much. It is a little, big town with lots of charm and funkiness to it. It also allowed me the opportunity to leae with clean clothes and a well rested body.
My other emotional stimulous is the excitement of getting back on the road. My walking around Springfield awoke the desire my being was feeling to get in motion again, and that is another gift. Tommorow I travel south to meet up with G and her family in Georgia. We are forming plans of at least one hike before the strawbale project. I will provide further info when that is firmed up. Need not make it a plan as that is uncertain ground for this traveler. It will involve another homecoming to a place I fell in love with in my teens so I do have a bit of an expectation. We'll see how that works out soon.
