So I set off from Colina, along a beautiful, quiet road, surrounded by lovelt mountain scenery. This was much more what I came for, I thought, and was quite happy and contented until... yep, it joined a motorway. You think Im making this up?

I got to the next big town, Los Andes, around lunchtime, and decided to make a start on the mountain pass that would take me over the Andes and into Argentina. I was expecting barren mountain scenery and roaring winds, but what I got was a road following a pretty river with a load of villages and houses all along it. I could see nowhere to pitch my tent, so I pulled into a restaurant and asked the owner if he knew of anywhere good. He suggested his patio. Perfecto! And then I naturally had to eat in his restaurant.

Number games:

Miles munched: who knows. The Hellcat is now claiming that I am going twice as fast as I actually am. Nice try, hellcat, but you can't dupe me.
Gravity banked: probably about 1000m
most useful Spanish word learned: carpa (tent)
