Left Pisco and took a bus to Ica which only took an hour (the shortest bus trip we´ve had so far)! At Ica we were ferried into this amazing place called Huacachina Oasis which is literally an oasis in the middle of the desert. Here we sat down to a hearty lunch of fava beans and rice ( delicious........okay we´re on a budget and it only cost us 6 soles..$2.50ish). Then into the dune buggy for a fab ride around the dunes!

These babies can really move. We had a 9 seater (yes, it did have a roll cage and very effective seat belts) and it absolutely TANKED around the desert up and down and sideways on huge dunes........FANTASTIC FUN!!! I´m sure you could hear our screams back in Lima ....but it was so good!

Stopped in the middle of the desert for a spot of sandboarding. Simon the Suisse proved the most competent on the slopes and showed good technique (no surprises there)! Pam took to the sport well, handling the board with grace (at times)! Most people gave up standing in the end and reverted to the face first charging down the slopes technique - not elegant but very effective. Needless to say, the next 24 hours was spent extracting sand out of every orifice of clothing and body!!!

Got transported to Nazca (2 hours) in amazing huge American Ford Aggresor cars. Felt like we should be in Cuba dealing drugs from the window but apparently it was all legit. Nic spent the trip wedged between the driver and Pam, gearstick between the legs. Oh so elegant! Cruised along and got in to Nazca in the evening.

Next day lucky Nic got to fly over the famous Nazca lines in a (very) small plane. These lines are incredible, formed by ancient civilisations but no-one really knows why. The only real way to see them is from the air - they are very distinct and the trip was awesome! Pam decided to keep her breakfast on board and give it a miss. Just as well really. It was quite turbulant and the pilot did lots of turns to get the best views of the lines. Great fun though!

Cruised around the town for a while - nice place a starting to get a bit ´touristy´´. Next stop Arequipa - southward bound!

Cruise on dudes.
