Hola amigos!
After another marathon bus trip (9 hours again) we´´ve crawled off the bus and into Trujillo which is the major city which lies next to Huanchaco. The trip has been interesting. We´ve moved from lush green landscapes into complete desert! Absolutely incredible!
Huanchaco is famous for it´s fishermen who go out on very narrow boats made from reeds and paddled with a bamboo pole cut in half.
Laura said to say that she got her laundry done as well. We´re pretty excited about that!! No honestly, getting the laundry done is something to celebrate but it is pretty good because it costs next to nothing and is charged by the kilo.
We had a really great trip to a couple of sets of ruins - the Temple of the Moon and Chan Chan city. Both are pre-Inca sites and are incredible
There seems to be alot of poverty here. Many people scraping through life with the absolute minimum and shanty towns are common.
Landscapes are desert punctuated by oasis with agricultural land.
Saw a man on a reed boat - okay we had to pay him 5 soles to go out and show how it´s done but he was happy with that!
The group are still fairly cohesive - we´re still talking to everyone even Simon the remaining Suisse becasue he spends so much on the toilet we don´t see him much!!!!! Don´t worry it´s under control (we hope)!
Okay, onward to Lima..............!
Buenos noche muchacho´s.

Reed boat fisherman at Huanchaco
. There is alot of work being carried out on both sites which is positive but given that Chan Chan alone is well over 100 hectares in size the task is incredibly big for the archaeologists. The highlight of the ruins trip was seeing the hairless dog - an endangered species and highly understandable because it is so BLOODY ugly! Poor bugger! There seems to be alot of poverty here. Many people scraping through life with the absolute minimum and shanty towns are common.
