Hola team!

Well we´ve left Quito and moved on to Otavalo - a little town reknown for its huge market on Saturday
which has local crafts etc. The first stage of the journey was surviving the bloody incredible bus trip. Narrow roads, cliff dropoffs with no guard rails and CRAZY drivers!!!

Made it into town and hit the local pizza joint for dinner with the locals. Pizza for $1.50 and beer (we´re talking a 660cc bottle) was 90cents. That´s the right price we think! Learnt some Swiss German from our travelling companions.

Hit the markets early Sat - first the animal markets where we got projectile sprayed with cow poo. The market was amazing, people just wandering around trying to find interested buyers - cattle, pigs (lots), horses, donkey (yes only one - some people can see reason), llama etc.

Great fruit and veg markets - choose from the melon stall, citrus stall, onion stall, spice stall and how can we forget the local butcher.........! No refrigeration here guys!

Craft market was fantastic - colourful - locals really friendly and very keen to help. Language barrier is gradually being overcome by our faltering grasp of Espanol!

Over and out and off to Amazonia!

Take care yáll

Cheers

Pam & Nic
