. there was glass everywhere!! it was horrible. one guy got a splitter on his nose and was bleeding, another had some on his legs and joel and daria were just covered in glass splitters and little tiny glass bits, like glas dust. fortunately i didn't get any on me. and none of us got badly hurt. daria was really lucky too cause she was sitting right next to the window.. good thing she was facing away from it. i don't even want to think about what would've happend if she was looking straight at the window. jeepers... :S well, we got all the glass off after a while and aside from a few minor cuts and a reopend blister (because of the flying glass) we're all in perfect condition. no harm done. but it was really scary and it's just crazy how fast everything went. you can watch these things and still don't see them coming. or i guess you just don't expect for something like this to happen.
oh well, now we're in kuta and so far we quite like it. it's very busy and of course again people are begging for money or trying to sell something. mostly beer and bracelets. some also sell kites, sarongs, etc. there are also a lot of surfer stores. the waves are gigantic here. they remind me of the movie "the last unicorn". do you know it? all the unicorns in the world are hunted down by a big bad bull. he keeps them in the sea where they gallop around as waves. it's actually a really good movie.. if you're a kid (or a child at heart like me). we didn't do much in kuta today. we only got here at 4 in the afternoon so the day was pretty much over. we went down to the beach, walked around, had a nice dinner and went shopping. i found some great stuff for carneval, a pair of surf shorts (ripcurl for 20 bucks.. pretty sweet deal!) and a shirt with turtles on it. ;) now my wallet's a bit lighter but hey, it's better than getting a sunburn on my butt tomorrow when we have our surf lesson! i wonder how that's gonna turn out. i'm not very confident, especially since i suck at snowboarding and stepping on a skateboard would be lethal for me... so why should i be able to surf? but, i guess you never know until you've tried so here i go!!!
so we're back on the beautiful island of bali. we're in kuta now, which is bali's surfer's paradise and fortunately very close to denpasar, where the airport is. we'll be spending 4 nights here i think, before we go back to singapore on the 27th of july. i can never remember what day our flight is. i think i've asked joel about a million times already.. :D so today was mostly very boring, except for this one incident on the boat ride back. the boat ride itself was nice. i sat next to the window and tried my best not to get sick again. i did feel a little queezy but i was able to keep my breakfast where it belongs so that's good news! :) i also saw a lot of flying fish. how excititng, eh? they are such funny animals. they really fly!! anyhow, when we got to the harbour in bali they wanted to tie the boat to the wood thing where you stand on.. and there's some sort of a buoy or something which is supposed to do i don't know what.. anyways, i was watching them do their work and the buoy went up towards my windown and then swung back in the other direction and ended up smashing the window across from me, right where daria and joel were sitting
