so let me tell you about the people of sarawak. the population here is a mix of malays, natives (mainly iban) and chinese. there are very very very few europeans who've gotten lost here, one of them being the owner of our bed & breakfast. though many women cover their hair, arms and legs, almosot half the population of sarawak is christian. what you can't classify or define in numbers, however, is how nice they are here. they are not used to tourists visiting borneo so seeing people like us is fascinating to them. whenever we walk down the street people sometimes honk, smile and wave at us.. and really not in a rude way but just in a very very friendly way! and i feel so bad cause i'm so skeptical all the time. i always expect people to want to rip me off or that they're trying to take advantage in some way. i don't know why that is.. whether it's because i was somehow raised that way or because i've experienced too many rude people i'm not sure.. i guess it doesn't matter either. what matters that i'm lucky to have this experience of meeting strangers who are nothing but nice and trustworthy. for them and for all the tourists i really hope that the locals here won't change their ways. i hope that no one is going to destroy their kindness and turn into people that are all about the money.

anyhow, so much for the people. i don't have much to tell about today. we didn't do much. hanging out, reading, and admiring the rain.. :) i love the rain here! it comes quickly and in buckets. :D it just rains and rains and rains.. you don't even have to bother using an umbrella because it rains so hard that the water splashes back up when it hits the ground and you end up getting wet anyways.. :D

so that's it. tomorrow wer're going to go see a few things (not saying what yet..) and i'm gonna go see if the bank will finally give me more money.. ;) so much for maxing out my debit card while travelling.. dumbie.. :D
