change of plans! this morning we decided to change our plans and post-pone sentosa to another day because we weren't sure if it was gonna rain a lot today. it always rains but usually never long. sentosa would be much nicer if the sun is out so we're gonna wait. instead we went to the botanic garden for a couple of hours. we saw the evolution garden, healing garden, rain forest, there's even a stage there where they have concerts and play classical music. very nice. my favourite part though was the orchid garden. we got in for free cause it's a school holiday and we brought our student cards.. oh yeah.. love student discounts. the orchid garden is packed with the most beautiful orchids. there must be every kind here there are so many. of course there are the pyhlianopsis hybrids that we have in our homes but there are many more.. so beautiful! there are a lot of squirrels too. they aren't as fluffly and cute as the ones in central park but they're cute. :)

so mama, and the following paragraphs are dedicated to your numerous questions ;)

climate: joel and i both suffered today. it was so hot and humid and it always felt like it was gonna rain any minute but it just wouldn't come. luckily i brought a fan but it didn't do much it was too hot. i really like the climate in general. i love how you can always go out in a dress or shorts and you never have to worry about cardigans and sweaters unless you're going to the movies or shopping. then you might wanna bring a sweater. apparently it's so cold at the movies, that one sweater isn't enough. what is it with people and air conditioning? seriously! i mean i need it too. i can't sleep unless i cool down the air in my room. but cooling down doesn't mean 19 celsius.. it have the air conditioning set to 25-27 in general. :D

how i feel: i like it here. singapore is a really impressive and fascinating place. it's a wonderful mixture between the city and nature. the way that the singapuri seem to value vegetation is really nice. there are plants everywhere, even down town. it's nothing like say for example new york, where you may have the occasional park and tree but other than that just buildings. singapore is alive in every way it seems. i like the school today. being able to do my internship there is a blessing. i am very grateful to have this opportunity and i wouldn't want to trade. i do miss home though. not in the sense of moping around and crying or whatever.. but in the sense that i am already really looking forward to coming home and i hate missing out on the fun my friends are having at home without me. also, i hate missing out on every hundsverlochete that's happening while i'm gone!!!! grrrrrrrr!! :D i need to compensate when i'm back. watch out! :D anyhow, i like the place i'm staying as well. appartments here are different. i mean just the fact that you have an elevator that takes you right to your appartment.. seriously.. :D and there's pool.. can't forget the pool. i have a lot of luxury here and i'm also really grateful for that. i was expecting to be living at a backpacker's hostel where you share a room with up to 7 other people.. i didn't expect this so i'm really really happy about it. fortunately i get along really well with the lady i'm staying with now and i know i will get along with the next one two. see, i will stay at one place for 2 weeks and another place for the second half.

so, tomorrow is the big day where everyone back in switzerland will start their fachpraktikum. if you're reading this, my dear friends, don't worry too much about it. you'll be fine and i'm sure you'll have a lot fun. just a few tipps based on my first week: get enough sleep, don't schedule anything for after school and really focus on the praktikum!!! as long as you do that, you won't get too stressed i'm sure! and the most important thing: have fun!! i sure am! ;) peace out!
