So anyhow, tomorrow is the first day of school and I should get some rest. Enough sightseeing, planning and writing for today!
After a good night's sleep and a delicious breakfast Joel, my host mom and I decided to take a trip downtown. Destination: Orchard Road. It’s basically Singapore’s Fifth Avenue or Bahnhofstrasse. If it weren’t for the people you wouldn’t think you’re in Asia. You can find all the haute couture stores, American stores like Forever Twenty-One, European stores like H&M… It’s rather impressive but I would much prefer to see local stores. But I think in time that’ll come too. After a few hours we went for lunch. I expected to find more food since vegetarian food isn’t supposed to be as rare over here than say for example France. But man, there’s meat, meat, meat, chicken, duck, chicken aaaand meat. Oh well, occasionally you find fish. Maybe I’ll find a Bratwurst sometime. That would be a good idea I think... ;) Anyhow, after lunch we went back, since Joel and I had a little planning to do. But since it was hot, we decided to go for a swim instead. You should see this. His pool is rather small compared to the one I have. I’ll try to post a picture tomorrow or so. It is quite spectacular. And I heard that the pool at the place where I’m going to stay for the second half of my stay is even bigger! So exciting!!! I just hope that I’ll find the time and energy to use it as well. The next weeks are going to be tough.
