Picton is the small ferry port town on the northern tip of the South Island. I stayed in the Atlantis Backpackers in a 28 bed dorm. It was huge. Washed some clothes (yeah for clean things!) and made some dinner..... meeting another crazy local in town to build houses, living at the hostel, named Karl (He is white for all those who were wondering....). What a life.... this town has 750 people for their population. It's a cute town, though. Anywho, had some beers and then headed into town to a local pub. Met some more people and then headed to I guess what would be considered a club in that neck of the woods. They had karaoke alternating with some hip hop that some thug-like people were singing along to. It was interesting. Karl was convinced that I had a crush on him but I was scared of committment. I did my best not to laugh..... and I enjoyed his company so we hung out for the night. I must admit it was a little awkward when every second thing in the conversation was "I know you like me. Why don't you just tell me?" Oh dear.
The next morning, I got up early and took a walk around Picton to Bob's Bay. Watched the ferry go by and enjoyed the sun until I had to run back to catch the bus to Kaikoura.
