Of course I wasn't drunk the whole time, we did mange to squeeze in a walking tour checking out Prague Castle, the largest castle in Europe, the astronomical clock which was made in the 15th century and is still running on 60%2525 of its original parts, Charles Bridge and I saw where they filmed the restaurant scene from the XXX movie.
History lesson 101 - Praha is the original Czech name. Prague is best known for crystal, absinthe, which by the way is gross in ice cream, and good beer. They're 'national dish' I guess you'd call it is roast duck with bread dumplings
. I like duck but this was crap. Anyway it was interesting to learn that one point during history, there was a civil movement against the government and the parliament was stormed and the Communist Ruler and the councillors were thrown out the window. Also interesting to learn after being to Germany was that Hugo Boss supplied all the uniforms for the Nazi army.. After the fall of that regime, Hugo was ordered to pay out a compensation or whatever it's called back for their involvement. Wow. There's a weird story behind Hugo's death but while typing this on the bus whilst hungover, I can't remember... Maybe it wasn't that interesting then. We visited a church which had what looked like a shrivelled up sausage hanging from the roof and the story goes that a thief snuck into the church one night and attempted to steal a gold necklace from the Virgin Mary statue and as he put his arm out the statue caught his arm and he was found the next day with the Virgin Mary holding onto his arm. The only way the could get him out without breaking the statue was too cut his arm off. Lucky for him there was a butcher right across the road. They took this as a sign and kept his arm and hung it up in the church... Creepy! Ironically the thief joined the church after that, believing in the power of god. It's probably just a piece of old salami but it attracts all the visitors through the door and makes a good story so who am I to judge,
Pub crawl was okay, Prague actually has the biggest night club in Central Europe which we finished up at, 5 stories of shit music and an ice bar. Ah well at least I can say I've been there I guess.
All in all, Prague was a nice city however not my favourite.. Not much to see besides what I saw.
Back to sleeping on the bus so I can cure my hangover. Next stop is Vienna. I think.
So at the start of our trip around Europe we get given a book full of information and tours on each city we visit and the only thing listed for Prague is the Pub Crawl... We know we're going to have fun here.
