Still keeping it easy, we decided to head down to the zoo to see some of South America's (caged) wildlife. Sadly the cages were smaller than I had hoped, but it did result in some great pictures of the animals.

Highlights included seeing a baby giraffe, who had just been born, just had an operation, or had way too much to drink, trying to walk. The staff eventually got the giraffe to stand on its own and they let the mother in. It looked uneasy and didn't move at all. When we looked back later it had collapsed on the floor, but in the heat I also felt like collapsing on the floor. There were also lots of different types of apes, felines, many herding animals and a few big African animals.

It was sweltering, so after the zoo we went to Havana cafe to cool down and refresh. I got a frappe and Nicole had a delicious Havannet (a delightful little chocolate treat filled with yummy toffee like goodness). Hit the spot!

That evening we met up with one of Nicole's old friends, Will, that she new form Semester at Sea. We went to a delightful Spanish seafood restaurant. Will and his friend, Lizzy, filled us in on life in BA and gave us some useful tips on what to do while in town. Will and Lizzy are long term BA residents originally from the States, both with interesting stories of their transition and entrepreneurship in BA. Very inspiring!

All in all, a wonderful day!
