Neil woke with a bad back this morning and blamed it on the bed at the Shelburne Inn Hotel. However as he had called the hotel 'creepy' the night before it was only to be deserved. Later he blamed it on our hire car. Which now has the nickname of the 'backbreaker'.
Before we left Long Beach we went out to see some of the local attractions. It's a bit like a very large Burnham-on-Sea. We visited Marsh's Free Museum and found the Jake the Alligator man and the world's largest frying pan. Although this pan was a replica apparently there really was a pan this size made in the 1940s for a huge shellfish frying breakfast.
Oregon House. We had booked a 'townhouse' here which essentially was half a small house with a living room / kitchen upstairs and a bedroom downstairs. Set just off the main road in a wooded area that led down to the beach. So we had some nice sunset pictures and the beach to ourselves. Explored some rockpools and found some rocks covered with mussels and shellfish. We probably had 2 square miles of beach to ourselves that evening.
