Yesterday ended better than it started - managed to eat which totally sorted me out. Met the girls at an Italian before heading to Lotus bar. Sat on the beach watching fire throwers. It feels like there's a lot of gap yaar students here, a bit annoying but quite entertaining to watch.. Lovely evening, had to say final goodbyes to Fran, Liz, Bibiana & Sibylla as they all left today.

Woke up feeling human again and blitzed through my diving book at breakfast. Spent the morning learning what I missed yesterday with our teacher Claire while the rest of the group took their final exam (sit mine tomorrow). Then packed up our kit and headed to the sea!

Jumped into a long boat which took us out to our main dive boat. On board we sorted through our kit and made sure everything was set up. First stop Mango Bay at the north of the island. So beautiful. Didn't want to risk taking my phone or camera so sadly no photos - white sand and the clearest, bluest water I've ever seen. A postcard.

Felt a little nervous about the dive but mainly excited. First a test - swim round the boat twice. Passed. Back on deck, kit on and we did final kit checks with our buddy. A girl had to drop out so I got paired with a guy called Rich from the UK. The other people in my group are two nice girls from Seattle called Jenny & Jess. Next we had to jump from the boat into the ocean which was quite far and a little scary.. I managed to lose my weight belt in the process so Tom our instructor had to go retrieve it from the ocean floor. Only me..

Belt and mask on, down we went 12 metres to the ocean floor. One of the best things I've ever experienced - like entering a completely different world which, I guess it is.. The sea floor was covered in corals and it was like swimming in a tropical aquarium - full of brightly coloured fish. My favourites were parrot fish and little bright blue ones that sat by the sea bed. Amazing. We also saw a couple of trigger fish - big fish that can get a bit territorial and aggressive so we just let them swim by. We stayed down there for about 40 minutes - I loved every minute.

Back on the boat we took off our kit and replaced our tanks. Cup of coffee and a biscuit and onto the next site - Twin Rocks off Nangyuan Island. Kit back on and down another 12 metres. There were more fish here and at points I found myself swimming through shoals of them! Favourites were angel fish, so cool. There was a point when Tom showed the group a sting ray, did I see it - no. I started to float to the surface for no reason and missed it..

End of the dive and back to the surface. When we went down it was beautiful sunshine but when we got back a storm has broken out. Really choppy waves and dark clouds. Was hard work getting back on the boat and then a really rough ride back to the main land. Was glad when it was over..

Back at the dock and it had started to rain, our transport back to the dive shop was a first for me.. imagine a ute-type vehicle with two rows of seats either side. But in the middle was all our kit so we had to sit facing the road with our legs over the side. Thankfully it was only a 10 minute journey. An experience..

Early one tonight has we're meeting at 6.30am for tomorrow's dive! Well I'm hoping so, got back to a new bunch of people in the dorm. They're nice but a little rowdy - currently playing drinking games. Shame I can't join in but no way I could get through tomorrow with a hangover. Hopefully they'll head out soon..
