After leaving Benualim we headed by bus to Palolem Beach which is a
little further south. The bus started off for a change being quite
quiet and we thought we would actually have room to breath on this
bus... no chance! Within mins it was full to the brim and they were
still adding more people, luckily we had a seat! However we had a nice
couple stood hanging over us who chatted to us saying they were from
north India and also here on holiday!

As soon as we stepped off the bus we were grabbed and quite luckily for
us as he took us to a lovely guesthouse/hotel just by the beach called
Zappia Cove. We stayed here for 2 nights and we loved it! During the
day we walked along the beach and went swimming (so stressful!)... and
also managed to do a morning Kayaking and we paddled out to Butterfly
island. Tom was in his element and stood on the back of the Kayak
pretending we were on a gondaller and he sang just one cornetto!!!
Thankfully no one else was around!!

Were getting better at the hangling thing and we bought 2 beach
blankets/wraps for the beach for 100 rupees (which is probably about 1
pound 20, we think)

In the evenings we ate in the beach restaurants and played cards and on
both nights ended up sat with other couples which was better company
than our own!

We sadly left here and got a rickshaw to the train station to catch the
3pm train to Mangalore, which was a great journey with lots to see just
very numb bums at the end of the 7 hours.

As for Mangalore we didnt like it and found not very much to do so we
had one night there and booked ourselves onto the over night sleeper
bus and headed for Mysore at 10pm. The sleeper bus ended up having the
best bed we had had since we arrived in India.... however the journey
was so bumpy neither of us got any sleep!

We are now in Mysore and as much as its busy we like it here and theres
been lots to do.. we've been to the Maharasjas Palace, the most amazing
fruit and veg market we have ever seen and today we went up Chamundi
Hill which is 1000m up and had fantastic views.

So we have another night here then we will be getting the bus and heading for Sultan Battery which is in Kerala.

Getting an itch!
Hi you two,

Just love reading of all your adventures and am beginning to get a very big itch to go off on my own adventures again. South America is calling very strongly. If only I can persuade The Old Girl to retire and persuade The Old Man to PLAN something!
Keep enjoying yourselves.
With love to your both.
