I checked out of my hotel at around 10am (check out was meant to be 11) and decided to go and hang out by the pool until I headed off to the airport (my flight was at 4.20pm). However once I arrived at the pool I noticed that you needed your key card to get in. Bored I decided to head early to the airport where I caught a shuttle outside of my hotel - I arrived 4 1/2 hours early. Once at the airport I headed straight to check in which was a check in machine - I hate these as I don't understand them. I then took my baggage to baggage claim and headed for my gate. However I wasn't given my ticket and was told this when I tried to go through security so I went back - I don't know if it came out and I hadn't noticed it but I was given another one. There were a few places to eat by my gate however they were very expensive so I settled for a place which sold Chelsea bun type cakes - it was so nice. The flight was a lot quicker than expected and after an hour we arrived into Los Angeles. Once I collected my baggage I phoned the hostel and let them now I had arrived - I was then told to go for one of two shuttle services
. I chose the prime time shuttle, however they were very slow and after a 40 minute wait they transferred me over to the other company who dropped me off on the way to Santa Monica. I then let Piglet - a friend from university know I had reached Venice beach and after checking in I decided to wander around the local area before grabbing a subway. I then spent the majority of the night talking to one of my room mates Linn a Swedish girl living in Seattle. After letting Piglet know my room number she knocked on the door and said we should have a catch up at a local bar with her brother who she was travelling with.
We ended up going to a pub/club with the hostel people but it was very cramped and the drinks were expensive, so we decided to go for a walk along the beach. On our walk along the beach we found a fold away chair and a children's Scooby Doo lounger. We then had a brainwave and decided to go down these half pipes with the Scooby Doo chair (there is a major skateboard park on the beach). Just before we headed back to the hostel we decided to have a quick paddle in the sea. We must have arrived back at the hostel at 2.30am after originally intending on being out for a couple of hours - it was a very fun night.4th July
I woke up at around 6am - I haven't managed to lie in past 7 since arriving in America and decided to grab a quick shower. I then went on my computer for a bit and met the new girl who managed to slip into our room undetected last night - I had a shock when I woke up to find a new girl there
. At 11 Piglet knocked on the door after she and Marcus checked out (Piglets brother) who then suggested we head down to Marina Del Rey, Before we headed there I grabbed another subway - it is right outside our hostel, When we arrived at the Marina there wasn't much to do so we headed to Muscle beach in Venice Park where Sexy and I Know it was filmed. There was a body building competition on so we checked that out - when we left the hostel this morning we noticed a butch looking woman walking into our hostel - we later found her to be our favourite act. The contestants prepared themself in the gym whilst we managed to find a seat on the stands. Some of the people looked ridiculous and were a nice shade of Mahogany. Lauren the butch looking women who walked into our hostel performed her routine to Sexy and I Know it - all the other contestants flexed a little but she decided to do the routine complete with the wiggle wiggle wiggle bit. The other performers had a lot to live up to however Lauren only came 3rd out of 5 - she appeared to be the big name in the business though. After finishing the womens competition they moved on to the mens - they even had a 60+ category. However after a while we got bored and left - the men were boring. We then went to the skatepark and watched some of the skaters - we thought at one point this guy in a motorised wheelchair was thinking of having a go - however I think he was just trying to get a really close view. After that we sunbathed on the beach for a couple of hours before heading back to the hostel, as the two of them had to get a shuttle back to the airport in preparation for arriving in San Francisco
I then went to watch the fireworks down Marina Del Rey with some of the girls in my room - it must have been a 40 minute or so walk both there and back. At first the fireworks were a bit boring but they livened up towards the end.5th July
I managed to wake up early again in time for my shuttle to the airport at 9.30am I decided to head down early in order to make sure I wasn't late for the coach to Redlands. I managed to get to LAX airport at around 10am and preceded to the Tom Bradley terminal where I met two other coaches who had also arrived early - we had to be there by 12.
