It's spring and the birds are busy nest-building, but we're doing quite the opposite, stripping out the house and garden ready for the first viewings by prospective tenants. It's looking naked, but smart, but there's still loads to do.

Preparations for the trip are stepping up a notch too. Our kit test just before Easter was a resounding success with our little Terra Nova Voyager tent standing up valiantly to the wind and downpours - although the Patagonian weather will be something else! The down sleeping bags are with Mountaineering Designs getting some much needed TLC. Our arms are resembling pin cushions, but only three more jabs to go thankfully. Rail, ferry and hostel bookings are confirmed for the first leg (Moscow to Kyoto). Real Russia is sorting out our visas for the Trans-Siberian-Mongolian and we're sorting our Indian visas this week. Trailfinders will confirm our final flight dates as soon as they're available in the next week or two. And most fantastically of all, family have been busy making plans to come out and visit us, and flights have already been booked!

Arrangements are also well underway for a whopper of a celebration weekend - an end of May bank-hol beach break in North Cornwall. Calling all friends and family to get the date in your diary and join us!
