Where I stayed
we got to the islands, there were birds everywhere... big and small, definitely some pelicans, which we had seen on the beach earlier too... and a lot of other birds that I couldnt identify (I am not good at knowing one bird from another...!) We had read about "guano" - bird poo and put our hats on to protect our heads from the inevitable spray of poo! (I got "got" twice, but it is meant to be lucky... and it was only a little bit each time!)
We then saw the exciting stuff... the penguins waddling on the rocks, and the sea lions basking in the sun, we drove around the rocks a few times, the islands are really ptretty, lots of little swim throughs and holes... we drove through one hole....and found a little beach with more sealions on, a few of them fighting for their space in the sun... a few babies ... we took some pictures, but then just enjoyed watching them living their lives... so peaceful and such a tranquile existence....
we then headed back, grabbed our bags and go t a taxi tot he crossroads, jumped on the first bus we saw that was about to leave.... and hey presto - Nicole and Lauren were on the bus! its funny how you just keep bumping into people....we are on the gringo trail though...! - apart from a few people, we were chatting last night about how few gringos we have actually seen travelling, and how few british...! its much less social that travelling in asia...
we grabbed some local grub from the lady on the bus (sandiwhces that were like leather, weird corn crisps and a jelly - creme caramel thingy... ) and off we went to Lima
- Advice... dont eat milky eggy creme caramelly thing from a lady on a bus... its been sat for a while, and it`ll give you a really sore tummy for teh next 2 days! (why did no one give me that advice! LOL!)
