After a lie in, and breakfast by the laguna...a cold shower and a shared salad for lunch, we decided to give the buggy trip amiss, but to hire sandboards and DIY it...again! I had kept saying I wished you could hire a buggy taxi to give us a lift to the top of the dune... but they dont do that... they either take you got a crzy hour tour of being driven around until you puke up and over the dunes... or DIY! - we asked the lady where the small slopes were, and off we went... we really looked the part...board under our arms, stomping throught he sand in our boots!
We started to walk up a dune...and I got in a mood because every step I took, I sunk 2 steps... I blamed Al of course.... and perservered.... then we walked along the dune edge... higher and higher (slower and slower)... more and more moaning...! and got to the top of this huge dune... and the moaning disappeared, as the view was gorgeous... sand dunes as far as you could see, and a panoramic view of the little village and the laguna! - we took lots of pictures before we got covered in sand, and found a small slope to practise on... before we came, I thought it would be like sandboarding in NewZealand, basically belly boarding down the dune... but this is much more technical...like snow boarding, but on sand! - I was kind of wishing they had ski`s!
Anyway, we strapped our feet into the board nd Al was a natural...kind of... confident and set off down... landed on his bum every 30seconds... but got there... I was complete wimp... anything buit a boarding chick!LOL -
we continued across the dune (walking) to try and find a less steep dune to have a go at, as the one we were on, was almost vertical down to th village! We spent the next hour or so, trying and falling, and laughing... and getting covered in sand...! I tried to belly board, but the board was quite narrow and I was a wimp and tried to go sideways across the dune, but ended up rolling and getting sand everywhere... and giggling hysterically! - Al got better and better, pretty jealous of how good he was actually... anyway, we got down, had another cold shower to de sand, and went out for some more celebratory cocktails and dinner.... (to celebrate not breaking a bone... and mr cockroach not visiting during our shower!)
Early start the next morning, and we headed to Pisco and Paracas... I think I had a little hangover (although its been so long, I dont really remember what they are!)... I am gtting too old for sore head the day after nice cocktails! - they shouldnt make them so big! LOL
Penguins, sealions and sea nextt (I hope)... and this wasnt the relaxing day it was going to be...but it was a lot of fun!
