It was a long drive back to Picton to catch the return ferry over the Cook Strait back to Wellington. We were staying for 2 nights in the capital but unfortunately for us, Elton John was playing the first night and there was not a free bed in the city. We ended up sleeping in an old University hall of residence that had been converted into a hostel. I say sleeping but that wasn't really the case as our room was surrounded by students on a school trip, who made so much noise all through the night that sleep was impossible.
The next day we spent loafing around Wellington doing jobs - writing emails, internet, hot chocolates in Starbucks, finding new digs, before going to the cinema to see the new James Bond film, Casino Royale. I am a massive Bond fan anyway but the film was superb nonetheless - Sarah also loved it. From the opening sequence it was clear that this was a return to the Bond of old. Gone were the silly and unbelievable gadgets, ridiculous stunts and corny gags that have blighted the Pierce Brosnan era. In my opinion, Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Connery. Great film.
