Where I stayed
We turned up after a short boat ride to find an island a world away from what we had recently left. Phi Phi that had been full of beered up tourists, burger bars and night clubs. Ko Lanta is sparcley populated, very quiet and has not yet been engulfed yet by the tourism machine sweeping through Thailand.
Most of the hotel staff were lounging around in hammocks on our arrival. We asked for our room that we had previously booked, the guy behing the counter did not ask our name, any details and did not ask for passports. He handed us a key a promptly went back to his hammock.
We dropped off our bags and went to find Nicki and Ruth who were lounging by the pool. The next two days past very quickly as we lounged by the pool, the beach and got up to do the odd bit of snorkelling.
The restaurant was lovely and I had 3 different Panang curries in our two days here (one for breakfast). The last one I asked for it to be hot!! Hot in Thailand means hot!! I first learned this when eating a thai salad and swore never to order anything hot again, have I learnt my lesson? Probably not!
With nothing to do in the evening it meant that we had to work our way through the cocktail menu. As Bev and Ruth were feeling a bit under the weather it was down to Nicki and I to solider through the never ending pages of strange cocktails.
Next stop is Ao Nang on our way to Kho Samui where we will be spending christmas in some fancy beach bungalow!
