We're just sat in our log cabin on the beach, while writing this blog…bliss
Had a busy couple of days exploring north Queensland and we’ve seen loads!
Set off from Mission beach early and went the very scenic route up to Cairns. We explored the Atherton Tablelands, which can only be compared to the Lake District, but as with everything in Australia, it is bigger and better!
Saw many waterfalls, which were nice and a massive lake, which was also nice. Driving down from the hills we stumbled across the most amazing driving road I’ve ever been on
Drove on through Cairns and onto the last stint of our journey north, to Port Douglas. Had an amazing meal at the local working mens’ club, which sounds awful, but it really was good.
Got up this morning, bright and early, and went for a session of…wait for it…YOGA, on the beach. It was only half 8 but the sun was already beating down, such that the physical exertion of the 'praying mantis’ position caused both me and amy to nearly faint.
After, we got in the car and headed to Mossman Gorge, which is a big load of rocks in a river, in the rainforest. It sounds dull, but walking in the rainforest is always exciting.
Next, we went on a river cruise up the Daintree River. We saw two wild crocodiles, and got a free meat pie with the tour…win. Carried on north to Cape Tribulation, which is a tiny town (100 people) right in the middle of the rainforest
The weather has become tropical now, really hot and really humid. There is not much point wearing clothes as they get wet within minutes. Lucky we’re in the middle of nowhere!
Amy is tanned and I have brown legs.
Heading back to Cairns tomorrow for our last couple of days in Oz. :(
