My name is Nicholas Graham Platt and I've officially returned from traveling abroad for more than five years. As I search for new job back in the states in journalism I can't help but reminisce on all of the music I've listened to over the years. I wanted to compile a playlist of music that I fell in love with while overseas. Each song has a particular emotion and a moment attached to it which is why even though I love all these songs, one may find them disgusting.

Please add your own foreign favorites, I can never get enough international music!

I'll start with some French artists

Jacques Brel:

My first introduction to Jacques Brel started before I even learned French in Spain when I would listen and watch his song alone and in my room and tear up. His passion for his music is immense and difficult not to become attached to.

Some more of his music:

Carla Bruni:

I will always remember a French friend of mine who introduced me to Carla Bruni as the model who when asked

"What attracts you most in a man?"

Carla Bruni: "Power."

and then went on to marry the president of France. She also made some good music though.

Some more music:

Who doesn't love Yelle! Her song "A Cause des Garçons" pretty much symbolizes that disgusting dance style called Tecktonik.

Personally, though, I love this song

Some Other Music:
-This is a Madeon remix of "Que Veux Tu"=awesome

This is a multiple part blog entry so I will come back to French music later.

It is my bucket list dream to travel to Japan to see the J-pop sensation Perfume. Their dance moves, good looks and J-pop style is a cultural phenomenon localized uniquely to Japan. There are great heaps of competition between many J-pop and K-pop bands. I think the rest is all shit. I don't know why I like this band and not others. Arguably, they are pretty similar such as 98 degrees was just like NSYNC and Back Street Boys, but I don't care.

Some Other Music:

I don't like this song but it's just off the charts weird(also not perfume)

There are some people who may say that Pakistan is a shithole, and those people are probably Indians. Guess what India!?! You're wrong! and it's all because of this man and his beard. Representing Baloch and the Balochi culture and language at a Coke Studios performance.

One shouldn't underestimate the ugliest language on the planet for having some of the best rappers-Sorry German

Samy Deluxe:

Now his music is actually really cool. These next songs aren't so great, but they are youth classics for the summer of 2011 and 2012 in Germany. I'll never forget fist pumping away in EIN DISCOTECHA with all my Germany buddies. Learn this songs by heart and go up to your German friend if you want to be impressive, sorta.
 Das Geht Ab:

 Nein Mann:

This song is has a bad ass music video too:

This is a cover of cups done in GALLIC, if that's not cool I don't want to live anymore. Also the girl in the video has a great voice.

So I am going to be doing this entries in multiple parts as I have loads of music from around the world, but I want to know how you think I can improve the layout. More songs? Better quality? Better Background? Let me know in the comments below or on my facebook page at CulturalFactsoftheDay.
