(Nicole) Who would be crazy enough to wake up at 3:30am to see Mt. Everest and Mt. Kanchenjunga (3rd highest peak in the world)? I was excited, but dreading the thought of waking up so early. We arrived in Tiger Hill around 5am and there was a major traffic jam. I thought there was an accident up ahead, but no, tons and tons of people were already at Tiger Hill waiting for the sunrise. The ticket to the best lounge to see the Himalyas was already sold out! We settled for the second best view and clicked, clicked our cameras. It was extremely cold and windy outside, but the pain was well worth the Kodak moment. We saw Mt. Kanchenjunga clearly, but unfortunately, Mt. Everest was behind the clouds. Boohoo! Peter wanted to see Mt. Everest so badly, he could not sleep the night before (we had to take two naps later that day to make up for the sleepless night). We wanted to sit atop Tiger Hill for several hours until the clouds disappeared so maybe we can just get a small peek at Mt. Everest. Yet, our jeep was ready to leave without us, so we had say goodbye to the invisible Mt. Everest. Maybe we will try again another day.

(Peter) It's true. I was so pumped with the thought of seeing Mt. Everest that I didn't sleep a wink the night before. I felt like a little kid again. It was actually the same feeling that I had a week earlier on the night before visiting Taj Mahal. Just thinking about what we've been able to see on this trip is hard to believe. First, it was the Angkor Kingdom in Cambodia. (A couple of nights ago, Tomb Raider was on TV, so it was great to recognize the shots of Angkor in the movie.) Then, it was Halong Bay in Vietnam. Then, the Taj Mahal in India. Now, the tallest mountain in the world!

We were a bit disappointed with not being able to see Mt. Everest. However, we're going to try again in a couple of days. We're going on a 2 day trek to a better viewing location. We're crossing our fingers...
