(Peter) Our next stop after Jaisalmer (and our camel safari) was Jodhpur, the "Blue City". Most of the buildings were painted blue to signify the home of a Brahmin, although we were told that non-Brahmins in the city also took up this custom. (See the picture.) I believe Brahmans are a particular religious group under the Hinduism religion, but I'm not positive.

Jodhpur was a nice stop for us. We visited the Meherangarh, a "majestic" fort on the north side of town. Both Jaisalmer and Jodhpur were very interesting towns. They both exist in the middle of the huge desert that makes up most of the Rajasthan state, and they both are built around enormous, well-preserved forts that were built hundreds of years ago.

We also walked around the main street market area of the town. Just browsing and interacting with the locals has been very exciting for us. We've had good experiences and we've had some not so good experiences. In Delhi, most of the people did not seem too friendly too us, but in Jaisalmer, where tourists are plentiful, many shop owners were very nice.

We haven't bought anything in India, yet. We hope to do most of our shopping in Jaipur (the capital of Rajasthan).

On a side note, we've changed our travel route and itinerary a number of times since we've been here. Everything and every place seems so interesting, so it's been a struggle to decide what places to go to. Currently, our plan is to go to Jaipur, then Agra (to see the Taj Mahal), then Varanasi (one of India's holiest cities), and then to Darjeeling (a hill town on the base of the Himalayas)...

Great Experience of Jodhpur City
The photos were very nice. While reading your experience I remembered my experience of visiting Jodhpur City really it was great and the most amazing was the Marugarh Hotel, fibulas food and room compared to 5 star hotels while rates were reasonable. I really had lot of fun.
