(Nicole) Nha Trang is a famous beach area in Vietnam. Yes, the water is turquiose as in the postcards. We are staying in a budget hotel and have not eaten in the streets yet(does a little bao count?). Peter had some tummy problems, of which pepto-bismol and imodium did not help, so we are being very cautious--because I do not want the same problems for me. I'm spoiled from all the fancy places Di Ti (Nicole's aunt) and Chu Cang (Nicole's uncle) have taken us to eat in Saigon--do I dare revert back to the Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich) on the streets?

Tomorrow we are going to scuba dive in Mieu Island, which is just off of Nha Trang. The dive operator told us that he has seen a seahorse and that sold me! It is very rare to see a seahorse since they are disappearing as humans continue to neglect to preserve our oceans. Peter has an underwater camera so I will be looking carefully in the nooks of the corals for these little creatures!
AFTER THE DIVE: Unfortunately, we did not find any tiny seahorses. Maybe they don't really exist?

(Peter) This place is truly a hidden paradise. The weather is great here and the town is laid-back, yet it offers opportunity for adventure and activity. Scuba diving was a real bonus for us. We didn't expect to find any good sites to dive in Vietnam. In addition, it was cheap! $42 for 2 dives, and that including equipment rental, boat trip, and lunch.

The food has been great, as it was in Saigon. Most of our meals have been at dives, since our stomachs have started to adapt to the food over here. Best of all, all of our meals have been around a $1 each (and these are good-size meals...).

I will really miss this place.
