Useless info about VN
1. Best meal in VN: too many to list
2. Near death experience with motorbikes: 100's
3. Nightmares of motorbikes running over me: countless and this caused many sleepless nights
4. Worst public restroom experience: train from Da Nang to Hue WC;note: do not drink or eat before long train rides
Top picks for VN
1. Scuba diving in Nha Trang: freezing cold, but still worth it.
2. Train ride from Da Nang to Hue (~2 1/2hrs): suppose to arrive at 10:30am but actually arrived at 12noon; this is Vietnamese time b/c everything runs late. However, the view from the train was spectacular--lush green trees falling into the clear ocean with the white sand dividing the two.
3. Riding in the back of motorbikes: scary but thrilling!
4. Bubble bath at the Sheraton in Hanoi: oh, but we really deserved it.
5. Water puppet show in Hanoi.
6. Cruising around Ha Long Bay: the caves are not that impressive (maybe b/c we've seen many caves before this trip), but the view and ocean breeze from the cruise around Ha Long was breathtaking and refreshing.
7. Best Hotel deal: Duy Tan Hotel in Hue:only $15 USD and it was sparkling clean! breakfast included!
