(Nicole) Angkor!
We woke up at 5am to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat (where parts of Tomb Raider were filmed). (Where's my coffee?!) To my surprise, many people were there already. It was pitch black and we forgot our flashlights; I stumbled here and there. We scrambled around to find the perfect Kodak location for the sunrise. Minute by minute, the day light shined upon us. Then suddenly, a thick orange-yellow circle came behind the horizon of Angkor Wat. The sound of the cameras clicking surprised me. People were asking each other to take pictures of this magnificent moment.
Nearby, a big pig walked around in the small pond where the reflections of Angkor Wat can be seen. He was so cute, saying "oink, oink," that people took pictures of him too
We also went to see the sunset atop Phnom Bakhang, one of the other temples of the Angkor Kingdom. However, it was a hazy day and the image was not very clear at all. In the beginning, people were lining up their tripods for the sunset, but they soon cleared it, seeing that it was too hazy for a good picture.
Would I go to Siem Reap again? Angkor was amazing beyond my imagination. However, the city is very poor and it was hard for me to see little kids begging, people without their limbs due to the mining, the killing fields...
