This morning Stuart and I plan our day over breakfast.  I completely destroy his plans by telling him I’ve already spent a day at Te Papa museum last time I was here!  So back to the drawing board.  We go for a quick spin up Mount Victoria.  It’s lovely, quite like Dunedin in that respect, that you can see the whole of the city from the top of a hill.  I recall my only view of Manchester being from the Hilton tower at graduation.  I have what is probably the funniest and most inaccurate tour of Wellington from above… including the ‘sun dial’ that points North?!  Ha.  So onwards we go through Mount Victoria tunnel.  This is so bizarre.  Every time people drive through it, they honk their horns… no reason, they just do!  It sounds so odd, and reminds me of Rhys Darby’s comments about NZ’s making their own entertainment, this is probably the best example of that fact!!  We go to the local New World, and later I recall that I’ve already been here whilst picking up dinner for mum and Helen a few weeks ago.  Tonight I’m cooking dinner, then we’re going out to watch ‘Inception’.  The movie theatre is incredible.  My local tour guide tells me that there was a premiere of ‘The Lovely Bones’ here, A Peter Jackson film??  It’s really ornate, and reminds me allot of any Victorian interior. Tiled floor to ceiling with hand glazed ceramics.  Sweeping staircases Left and Right with wrought iron, black railings.  The actual theatre is vast, with domed lights either side of the screen and wooden, ornate ceilings.  Shame the film wasn’t quite as interesting or as memorable as the cinema.  One great thing is we can drink our own alcohol here, so finish off the  Gewurztraminer from dinner.
