I finally did it !!  I made it all the way from the start of US 1 in Fort Kent, Maine to the end in
Key West, Florida.  To tell you the truth the sign at the start in Fort Kent is much more impressive than the sign at the end in Key West.  It was hotter than h... here - hotter than I am used to.  It was 97 degrees, with a heat index of over 107 degrees.  But I pushed on and got pictures of the sign. took a tour trolley around the city, had some key lime pie and a margharita at Jimmy Buffets original bar on Duval Street and took a quick look at Smathers Beach ( not too impressive).
Wednesday afternoon and Thursday I started my drive up the west coast of Florida and ran into
a wicked bad rain storm with hail, high winds and lightning.  I parked the RV under an overpass for the better part of two hours until I could venture out in the rain again.  All is fine and I got a free RV wash along the way.  Check out the photos below - sorry this site only allows for 5 photos at a time, but I will send more later.  Peace out   Steve.  Sorry if you get two copies of this blog entry -  I wasnt sure it went thru the first time.

Hi Steve, congrats on getting down to Key West! I know it's hot and tough to take time out, but don't rush your trip along the Gulf Coast. I've done it once before and went way too fast. There are several state parks north of Tampa that have cool fresh water rivers to swim in -- a very cool place to relax in the crazy June heat. Let me know if you need any suggestions. Jamie
