We are finally underway.  Fran and I completed the loading of the RV on Tuesday 5/17 and left Jaffrey, NH around 1:30 PM.  Yes it was a late start but we wanted to make sure we were ready , before finally pulling the trigger on this trip.  Took Rt 101 east from Manchester and hooked up with Route 95, northbound into Maine.  Our first stop was in the town of Kittery and a shopping trip to the Kittery Trading Post, where I picked up an air mattress ( for my lumpy bed) and an air pump.  Then back on the road to Bangor, Maine. We pulled in late, around 8:30 pm, to the Bangor Wal Mart,  worked together to set up our beds and finally crashed, for our first night in the RV, around
We did not sleep very well, listening to the sounds and getting used to our surroundings.  Up early in the morning, a quick stop for breakfast at Mickey D's and on the road to Fort Kent, Maine
We arrived at Ft Kent at 1:30pm and found a newly erected sign, indicating the start of US Route 1.Hopefully I can attach some photos to see.
Leaving Ft Kent, we are finally heading SOUTH. Hopefully the weather will get warmer as we go.
( This one is for Penny Ballantine) - We are spending our second night in Presque Isle, Maine
Penny, anyone I should say hi to for you ??
The weather has been very rainy and cold, but the sun gods finally smiled on us in Ft Kent - It seems like the are watching us
The Rv is working well and we are still getting used to it, and enjoying the Maine scenery. On Thursday, 5/19 we will head toward Bar Harbor, Maine and will report on the rocky shores of our great country

Way to go Steve, I knew those WalMart parking lots would serve you well. Were the shopping cart attendents making too much noise..........keeping you awake? Two whole days and your companion hasn't bailed yet? She must be very strong willed! Keep me informed bud......... miss you. Things are not the same around here without you.
