Each move, travel and job opportunity is obviously a new chapter in my life, but with unparalleled worth for its introduction to new friends, experiences, stresses, explorations, challenges and passions.
Lately, this past chapter in New York has had a focus on physicality between friends, sharing and trust. I don't think I've ever been so physically close to the new friends I've found here in the city, as we share from the moment our eyes open together, to the time they close.
Could perhaps sound "gay" or whatever to someone more guarded/reserved, but having traveled more regularly outside of my private room than any other time, I've adapted to someone, somewhere, taking me in and sharing their bed -- or a bed (depending on where we are) -- along with their now unreserved secrets in exchange for mine.
For Hurricane Irene, it was no different as all the girls in New York, my friends, were being housed in hotels around the city by their departments. Being off this weekend and not residing in a flood zone ( = "mandatory evacuation" according to Mayor Bloomberg) I wasn't put up anywhere, but still received emails and texts inviting me over for slumber parties at those who were ^_^
Caught a lucky cab to mid-town, near Penn Station, to Nina's place, a sky-rise apartment with a bedroom wall/window that faces uptown.
Had the best time, just the two of us. Watched movies, ate & ate, exchanged stories, and emailed the correspondents we were watching late on CNN with cheer (who fortunately replied back lol).

I'm leaving soon, I approximate two more months, and Katie (my latest best friend here) is moving to London at the end of next week.

Someone put a quote up on Facebook by Orson Wells today reading,

"If you want a happy ending it depends on where you end the story."

Feel caught between savoring all I have left here, and running away to start the next chapter.
